| Located in the northern Idaho Panhandle, Ponderay lies on the shores of Idaho’s larges lake, Lake Pend Oreille with a surface area of 148 square miles. Lake Pend Oreille is 65 miles long and 1,150 feet deep in some regions making it the fifth deepest lake in the United Sates. The beauty of the surrounding Selkirk and Cabinet Mountains and Lake Pend Oreille has kept Ponderay a favorite for water sports, hunting, hiking, horseback riding, fishing and skiing. Community organizations include Sandpoint Winter Carnival in February; Lost in the 50s vintage car show in May; the Festival at Sandpoint summer music festival in August; and Idaho State Draft Horse International show in September. | |
